Let’s Make Contacts

Contact Cycle Concept changed my life forever! I learned it from Gestalt Theory. It means if I make contact with my natural flow, I will stay content.  For example, as I feel hungry, I get something to eat rather than ignoring the hunger.  Since that hunger is satiated, my body has no unfinished business to carry around.  As I feel sad, I may allow myself to cry or just feel the sadness until it naturally dissipates.  Usually we stop ourselves from crying, apologizing profusely to whoever may present to see it; so the sadness goes underground and remains unfinished.  You can imagine what happens when we continue to accumulate all the things we push down to avoid the contact.  Big block of something that immobilize us, can then become depression or physical ailments.

Of course, we can have several flows coming out all at the same time.  For example, my body tells me I want rest from lack of sleep the night before.  My mind tells me I need to study more for a test. My emotion tells me I am sad.  This is when we need to prioritize what needs immediate attention and what can wait.  This means we attend to the flow at some future time instead of ignoring or forgetting. So I may decide to take a quick nap for 30 minutes, then study for 2 hours and then take some time to make a contact with the sad feeling after the test.

When we continue to live this way, we make contacts with all natural flows and therefore maintain physical, emotional, and mental health.  Since we will not accumulate unnatural blocks within us, we will have our energy available for more vital life.
